Electronics exercises
Seven topics, each with three activities in the circuit simulator. Learn the method, try the circuit and answer the final question.
- Ohm's law Use I = V/R. Convert resistance to ohms before dividing. To check in the simulator, select the resistor and read its current. 0 of 3 completed
- Resistor color codes Read the first two bands as digits and the third as a multiplier. Gold is the tolerance band. Compare your reading with the resistor inspector. 0 of 3 completed
- Series resistors Add resistances in series. Divide the source voltage by the total to find the shared current; multiply that current by each resistance for its voltage. 0 of 3 completed
- Parallel resistors For parallel branches, add their conductances: 1/Rt = 1/Ra + 1/Rb. Add series resistors within each branch first. The source supplies the sum of branch currents. 0 of 3 completed
- Electrical power For a resistor, use P = V²/R or P = V × I. The result is in watts. In the simulator, select the resistor to read its power. 0 of 3 completed
- LED resistors Subtract the LEDs' forward voltages from the source voltage. The remainder appears across the series resistor. Divide it by the resistance to find the current. 0 of 3 completed
- Voltage dividers With no load on the output, Vout = Vin × R2/(R1 + R2). R2 is the lower resistor. Select R2 in the simulator to measure its voltage. 0 of 3 completed
Calculate on paper or use the simulator, then enter your result. Close this panel to measure; the Exercises tab reopens it.
